Corona Papers
2023
Cast: Shine Tom Chacko, Franco Francis
 Director: Priyadarshan
Welcome to my review of the latest police drama movie, Corona Papers. The film is directed by the renowned filmmaker Priyadarshan and features a talented cast, including Sidhique, Shane, Shine, and Lal. The movie has been inspired by Akira Kurasawa’s suspense thriller Stray Dog and aims to explore the socio-economic conditions during the pandemic era.
Plot
Rahul, a freshly hired SI with the Kerala Police, loses his official pistol on a packed bus, and his experience is chronicled in the film. He and his bosses decide to apprehend the offender ourselves rather than report the event to the authorities. However, they commit a series of crimes, including a bank heist and murders, as a result of their pursuit for the gun. Whether Rahul can escape the emotional and legal binds the pistol throws him into is the central question of the film.

Performances
As a former police officer who had to deal with legal repercussions when his superiors planted an encounter case against him, Sidhique gives a flawless performance. With his acting talent, he steals the stage and gives a memorable performance. With some intriguing stunt scenes, Shane, Shine, and Lal also give the spectator some heart-pounding moments. The characters, however, are flat, which makes it challenging for the spectator to empathise with them.
Technical Aspects
Corona Papers would be worth seeing if you appreciate watching action-packed films and crime thrillers. However, you might want to skip this one if you’re seeking for a film with substance and a compelling plot.

Conclusion
Corona Papers, in general, falls short of expectations and resembles a dull remake of the first film, Stray Dog. The cast gives outstanding performances, and the technical parts of the film are stunning. But it’s hard for the viewer to relate to the movie because of how flat the characters and plot are. If you like criminal thrillers, you could like the movie, but if you want something different and interesting, you might not like it.
