A police action drama in Telugu titled Meter movie features Kiran Abbavaram and Dhanush Pawan. Despite the film’s strong performances and occasional humour, it is mediocre and not required viewing due to its predictable plot and shoddy writing.
Meter Movie Review:
In the Telugu police action drama Meter, Arjun Kalyan (Kiran Abbavaram), the son of a police constable, eventually rises to the position of Sub Inspector despite having no interest in the force. After taking over, a series of circumstances develop that put him in direct conflict with the corrupt and crooked home minister Byre Reddy (Dhanush Pawan). The shocking information that Arjun discovers and if he changes his mind are the central themes of the meter movie.
Acting:
In Meter movie, Kiran Abbavaram, who has had a number of blockbuster releases this year, gives a strong performance. Unfortunately, despite his acting, fighting, and dancing talents, this shoddy police action drama cannot be saved by his talent. The antagonist, Dhanush Pawan, gives a terrific performance with both his general demeanour and his lines.
Actress Athulyaa Ravi, who makes her Telugu film debut, plays Arjun’s love interest but has no other role in the story. She performed a respectable job, nevertheless, given the constraints of her character.
Direction and Writing:
The story, writing, and direction of the meter movie were all handled by Ramesh Kaduri, who failed to make it compelling and remarkable. Most of the time, the story and script screamed repetition and tired tropes. The most of the dialogues felt over the top and nonsensical, verging on cringe, while a few dialogues do land. The movie also has a lot of double-meaning dialogue. Despite the film’s respectable production qualities, score, and cinematography, the editing felt choppy and had problems with continuity.
Characterization and Humor:
The portrayal of people was generic and offered nothing unique; in fact, a number of characters copied popular lines and mannerisms from other films. A saving grace was the occasional hilarity produced by Sapthagiri in the role of Arjun’s uncle and Posani Krishna Murali in the role of Police Commissioner.
Technical Aspects:
Ramesh Kaduri and Surya wrote the dialogue for the movie, which also featured music by Sai Kartheek, cinematography by Venkat C. Dileep, editing by Karthika Srinivas, and production design by JV. Although the technical aspects of the movie were fine, there were continuity problems with the editing.
Overall Verdict:
Overall, the meter movie is entertaining at spots, but it usually comes off as boring and uninspired. More creativity and coherence are needed in the writing. The film contains respectable production quality and strong work from Kiran Abbavaram and Dhanush Pawan, but it lacks a compelling narrative.
Final Thoughts:
The police action drama Meter movie makes a respectable effort, but due to its rote plot and shoddy writing, it falls flat in the genre. The occasional humour and solid acting make it entertaining, but it is not a film that you really must see.
