Soppana Sundari

 Cast: Aishwarya Rajesh, Sunil Reddy

 Director: S.G. Charles

Welcome to my review of the latest Tamil film, Soppana Sundari! This film has been creating buzz in the industry for a while now, and I was excited to watch it. The movie attempts to be a dark comedy and stars Aishwarya Rajesh in the lead role. Let’s read the review and find out if the excitement is justified.

In Soppana Sundari, a young woman from a lower middle class family named Agalya (Aishwarya Rajesh) enters a fortunate draw and wins a vehicle valued at Rs 10 lakh. However, problems arise when her estranged brother asserts that he is the real fortunate draw winner and when her mute sister Thenmozhi alerts her to the presence of a dead body in the car’s trunk. The remainder of the film centres on Agalya’s efforts to negotiate this challenging circumstance and resolve her financial issues.

Soppana Sundari makes a respectable effort at becoming a dark comedy, but it doesn’t succeed in completely engrossing the viewer in the universe it portrays. Aishwarya Rajesh gives another seamless performance that helps to make up for some of the film’s shortcomings, but with better scripting, it may have been one of her greatest performances of her career.

As Agalya, the protagonist of the film, Aishwarya Rajesh excels, giving her depiction depth and subtlety. Despite having little on-screen time, the remainder of the cast gives respectable performances and true justice to each character.

Writing and Humor

It’s difficult to attempt a dark comedy, as Soppana Sundari attempts to find the ideal harmony between humour and gloom. The humour in the finale and pre-interval parts mostly succeeds, however several potentially fascinating situations fall flat. Although there are some minor inconsistencies and the writing might have been much better, the part when Agalya’s mother outlines her strategy to get them out of their financial situation is pretty humorous.

Technical Aspects

The film’s technical elements, notably the soundtrack, occasionally elevate particular scenes. Although the background music has a little Pa Ranjith’s Madras OST resemblance, it enhances the humour in various parts.

Final Verdict
